The New York Times acclaims Who's Who in America as

"That venerable guide to American achievement..."

In their November 13th, 2005 issue, The New York Times ran a two-page feature story on the recently published 60th Anniversary Edition of Who's Who in America, citing "Who's In" and "Who's Out", and how the directory is changing with the times to reflect not only American achievement but American culture, as well. They wrote:

"[Who's Who in America] ... recognizes 109,000 people and, by their inclusion,
recommends them to posterity and to America's collective memory."

More than a simple biographical collection of the year's most distinguished people, Who's Who in America is a reflection - and often a surprising one - of evolving trends in American leadership and celebrity. Featuring the country's most notable men and women, Who's Who in America is a multi-layered montage of the people, and in turn the places and events, that helped to shape the year in review.

"They take their places in American culture's carved stone with presidents,
Novel Prize winners, the entertainment elite and the titans of industry."

Who's Who in America engages our curiosity, but it also offers something more - revealing the overarching national attitudes that make these achievers particularly noteworthy.

"For many of those whose fame is in full bloom ... being included in the book
is not just another piece of publicity ... "
It can be a highlight of a career.

Always growing and changing, today this "venerable guide to American achievement. a librarian's Vanity Fair" casts a wider net than in years past. From the traditional inclusion of notable politicians, academics, scientists and engineers to the recent additions of pop culture icons, Who's Who in America quite clearly remains a relevant, "authoritative tool and valid portrait of [American] society."

For over 100 years, Marquis Who's Who has provided historians, researchers, journalists, business people, educators, and students with America's essential and most trusted biographical reference. We look forward to providing the same high quality information for the next 100 years to come.
